Kaye Edsell's Derby Day routine hasn't changed much over the years.
She starts with breakfast — homemade in the past, from a restaurant now — and a self-mixed Mint Julep before heading to the track. At Churchill Downs, she'll have a ready-to-serve cocktail so she can add the souvenir glass to her collection, then follow up the race with burgoo and Derby pie at home.
It's all part of the tradition Edsell has built since 1937, when she first attended the Kentucky Derby. This Saturday, she'll watch the fastest two minutes in sports for the 77th time.

Curious, they decide to forcibly open the doors and cause a massive energy backlash that causes the power on the entire planet to go out, unleashing hell in the process. Aliens vs Predator PC Game Overview Aliens vs Predator is an update of the 1999 PC game Aliens Versus Predator, in which the player can choose either Marine, Xenomorph (commonly known as Aliens) or Predator in a first-person shooter. This is where the story begins for the three factions: Marines: The player takes control of the “Rookie” as they are dispatched to the planet to investigate the distress signal. The story takes place on the planet designated BG-386, in a mining colony owned by the Weyland-Yutani Corporation where they have found a mysterious site; an ancient pyramid that depicts an unknown alien race and the Xenomorphs.
Edsell is a slight yet energetic woman who dressed in gold horse earrings and a shirt with horse heads on the collar as she talked about her memories of the race's history. She remembers Secretariat's win in 1973 and getting her first — and only — Trifecta in 1995, when Thunder Gulch took first place. She remembers when Mint Juleps cost 15 cents and viewers could line the rails of the infield. She remembers missing the Derby once, in 1961, when her youngest son Tim was born on race day, and she remembers sitting through everything from sleet to sun.
But mostly, the Derbies just run together. Edsell — who said she does not tell her age, but 'everybody figures it out some way or the other' — now looks to her collection of glasses to help her keep track.
'What year did Calvacade win?' she asked Matt Ralson, who is friends with Tim and is escorting her to the Derby this year. 'I need a glass.'
Calvacade won in 1934. It was the first Kentucky Derby Edsell said she really recalls. She was younger than 10, living in Kansas City, Mo., and she drew the horse's name out of a hat.
'I remember the day very well,' Edsell said. 'We were outside playing with the neighborhood children, and we had Derby pots like everybody has. And they called and said, 'You got the winner.' I said, 'Fine, whatever.' It didn't really mean anything to me then.'
Edsell moved with her family to Louisville in 1937 and has lived in Kentucky ever since. Between the late '40s and 1965, she moved around the state with her late husband, Allan Edsell, but she always returned for race.
Her family started off sitting in the grandstand but later moved to the clubhouse, where her father's office, L.M. Berry and Company, had seats. At one point, the family sat beneath Millionaires Row, where world leaders such as then President Richard Nixon and the Queen of England watched.

'Unfortunately, those people up there, sometimes they'd spill their drinks,' Edsell said. 'You had to be careful.'
After her father died, Edsell purchased a box of her own and has been moved several times as the track adds on various sections.
'Pretty soon they're going to have me over on the first turn,' Edsell said. 'But that's all right, I'm still there.'

Edsell said the track and traditions have changed over the years, but the race never has. And as she watches from her box near the finish line, she still gets excited.

'Particularly when they're coming up and their little nose gets out there in front,' Edsell said. 'Yes, I like it very much. But it's just the thrill of seeing them run and having the winner once in a while.'
